Looking back 2025
Thanks to our amazing fixers and volunteers, and working in concert with our community repair leaders and community partners, we expanded to 14 new locations this year. Along with our regular locations, Repair Café and repair workshops were offered at the following locations for the first time:
- UofT Scarborough campus
- Fairmount Royal York Hotel
- Scadding Court Community Centre
- George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre
- Humber Polytechnic North Campus
- Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus
- Annette St. Public School
- Swansea Town Hall
- Withrow Park Farmers’ Market
- East End United Regional Ministry
- East End Food Hub

We also mentored the staff and residents from the following residences who led the organizing of their own repair café events:
- Scarlettwood Court
- Harbour Square
- Sunshine Centres for Seniors
As well, we were honored to receive Toronto Community Champion Award from the City this May.

Our story continues to be covered by diverse media outlets. This piece with CityNews visiting Repair Café at Dufferin Grove Farmers’ Market in July was just one of them.

2025 was another strong year – We were happy to see that more and more people have come together for repairing at Repair Café. This year, many people were able to join Repair Café in their own neighbourhoods, which means that not only were they able to join the café easily with less travelling time but also they got to engage with fellow community members in their own neighbourhoods.
In the video below, you can hear about the perspective of a visitor highlighting the advantage of the location for Repair Cafe being close to home.
Our New Year Hope
In this new year, we hope to see Repair Cafés offered in many more neighbourhoods across the city. The more local hubs there are offering Repair Café, the more that people everywhere will have the opportunity to not just have broken items fixed and divert waste from landfills, but build a stronger sense of community.
Imagine a Repair Café in every neighborhood, close to home, a place where people are able to come together regularly to repair broken things and learn from each other, accessible to all. This can be the future for everyone in the city.
We welcome fixers, apprentices, volunteers and visitors to join us! Check out our event calendar. More cafés will be added throughout the year.
Happy fixing in 2026!
