Marking Our 12 Year Anniversary!

Toronto’s first repair café took place May 25, 2013. Twelve years later Repair Café Toronto has been recognized by the City of Toronto and United Way Greater Toronto as one of 25 recipients of the Toronto Community Champion Award.

Our repair movement has grown exponentially over these 12 years, starting with a small monthly event on St.Clair W. at Skills for Change. On May 24, 2025, there were 6 repair events happening at the same time all over the city! From community health centres to food co-ops to eco-fairs to libraries and more(!), community repair is going on across Toronto thanks to our wonderful volunteers.

These events represent the ongoing drive to achieve our three core values:

  • Create a free, safe and welcoming atmosphere accessible to the community where visitors may engage with fellow community members and learn about repair.
  • Come together with volunteers and visitors in an open, generous and kind manner, where everyone is valued.
  • Work collaboratively and partner with a diverse range of community groups to promote sustainability in a fun and inclusive manner.

We look forward to when the Right to Repair prevails throughout our society, and the next generation takes it for granted that you try to fix something before you throw it away!
