Toronto and Vancouver Repair Together Live on October 22!

Did you know this week, October 17 to 23, is Canada’s Waste Reduction Week? It coincides with the International Repair Café Week. In this special week, Repair Café is thrilled to offer our monthly café with a special program at the Albion branch of Toronto Public Library on Saturday, October 22, from 12 to 4 p.m.!

At this café, we will be dedicating one hour to connect with two repair groups in Vancouver, Repair Matters and Repair Café Vancouver, who are joining force to offer a repair community event at Dunbar Community Centre on the same day. Through the video conferencing system provided by The Global Class out of Durham College (Oshawa, Ontario), Toronto and Vancouver will be talking to each other and fixing items together from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Toronto time (11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Vanvouver time). This interactive one hour includes two parts: first, demonstrations on trouble-shooting and repairing common broken household items; second, the fixers from both sides work collaboratively on items brought in by participating visitors. We will be livestreaming it via The Global Class site, so you can watch it online. It will be an exciting event. We hope you can join us on October 22!
